About Your Storyteller

Mohi Palmer

I am a descendant of the Chief Toroa (Albatross) from Hawaiki, the group of islands in the middle of the South Pacific Ocean known as Otaheite (Tahiti). Toroa lived on the nearby island of Raiatea, but after tribal warfare broke out Toroa gathered the people together and sailed his ocean-going waka canoe called Mataatua over 3000 kilometres south to the islands of Te-ika-a-maui (The Fish of Maui) also known as Aotearoa (The Long White Cloud) in Circa 1350. They settled the new land up to 1769 until the morning of October 8th when Captain James Cook sailed on H.M.S Endeavour, then renamed it New Zealand. From that time forward ancient history was changed forever.

Personal Note

My name is Mohi, my friends call me “Mo” and my company is Mo’s Matakana Island Tours. My aim is to enhance your scope of vision in the spiritual realm through historical storytelling while transporting you to the actual sites where these significant events took place. My tours are rare and unique because they are up-close and personal on a privately owned island.
